Structure, Health and Temperment are very important to us as breeders. We start with puppies of sound body and mind, and good temperment and work with them, not only in conformation but obedience as well.
We show our dogs to their championships, do health clearances such as PennHip or OFA Hips and Elbow, and cardio evaluations with a cardiologist. We do a full blood panel to check for thyroid or auto immune problems before ever breeding. And at least once a year for our dogs lifetime.
If our dogs have health issues that could be detrimental to a breeding program they are not bred. They are spayed or neutered and stay as our loved companions.
We will always be small time breeders. I will only breed for a litter if I am wishing to add to my own home and have not found a puppy I want to add from another breeder. My dogs stay with me for a lifetime. I only have room for so many so can not often add more.
